Good to know

Your TFSA room starts the year you became a resident of Canada, not 2009. Putting in more than your room costs 1% a month.

Your net worth is nobody’s business but yours.

Most money apps start by asking for your bank login. Duofolios never does. Your numbers live on your own device, and we don’t run a server that could see them.

  • No sign-up

There’s no account to create, so there’s nothing of yours to leak.

  • No bank passwords, no OTPs

You type your balances. Nothing is linked to your bank.

  • It stays on your device

Your numbers are saved in your browser, on your own phone or computer.

  • Only one thing comes in

The app asks for today’s CAD⇄INR rate. That request carries none of your data.

  • Locked with your face or finger

Face ID, Touch ID or a PIN, every time Duofolios opens.

  • Encrypted on your device

With App Lock on, your data is encrypted with a key only your face, finger or PIN can unlock.

How privacy works in Duofolios
Most money apps Their servers Duofolios No server Stays on this device
Most money apps send your data and your bank login to their servers. Duofolios has no server: your data stays inside your phone, locked and encrypted.

The form most NRIs have never heard of.

If you live in Canada and what you own outside Canada cost more than $100,000 at any point in the year, the CRA expects Form T1135 with your tax return. That can include NRE and NRO balances, fixed deposits, mutual funds and shares in India.

Filing late costs $25 a day, up to $2,500.

Questions people ask us.

Something else on your mind? Email hello@duofolios.com.

Is Duofolios really free?

Yes. Tracking your accounts, the currency switch and everything that runs on your device is free, and will stay free. Later we’ll offer optional cloud sync as a paid extra for people who want their data on several devices.

Where is my data stored?

In your browser’s storage, on your own phone or computer. We don’t run a server that receives your balances, so we couldn’t see them even if we wanted to. All the app sends out is a request for today’s exchange rate and an anonymous visit count, and neither includes your accounts. How we keep your data safe

What if I lose my phone or clear my browser?

Your data goes with it, which is why the app lets you download a backup file whenever you like and reminds you if it’s been a while. Keep the backup somewhere safe, like your own cloud drive, and restore it on any device.

What if I don’t open Duofolios for a while on my iPhone?

If you use it in a Safari tab, Apple’s Safari deletes a website’s saved data once you’ve used Safari for seven days without opening that site, and Duofolios is a website to Safari. To keep your numbers, add Duofolios to your Home Screen: apps added there are exempt. Keeping a recent backup file also means you can restore everything if it’s ever cleared. Android and computers don’t do this. How to add it to your Home Screen

Do you need my bank login or OTP?

Never. Duofolios doesn’t connect to banks. You enter balances yourself. Coming next: fixed deposits, mutual funds and gold that update their own value, still without linking anything.

Does it work on iPhone, Android and computers?

Yes, in any up-to-date browser. On a phone, add it to your home screen and it opens like an app. On an iPhone, installing it also stops Safari from clearing its data if you don’t open it for a while. How to install it

Which banks and accounts does it support?

Any bank or broker in either country. You pick the kind of account, like TFSA, NRE or PPF, and name the institution. Nothing is linked, so there’s no list of supported banks to check.

Can I track my spouse’s or parents’ accounts?

You can add any account to your own view today. A family view with separate and combined totals is on the waitlist.

Is this tax or financial advice?

No. Duofolios is an educational tool. Our explainers and calculators help you understand the rules, but for decisions about your taxes or investments, talk to a qualified professional in the right country.

Who makes Duofolios?

We’re Indians living in Canada, and we also run the Duofolios YouTube channel, which explains NRI banking, taxes and investing in plain language. About us
